Game-makingYears 8-9 (90 minutes or two hours) Using Game Maker software, students learn how to design and make their own computer game – in the style of Tetris, Pacman and other simple platform, puzzle or target games. Media Arts |
Music mixYears 8-10 (Two hours) Using GarageBand, Sony Acid Music Studio, or Groovy Music, students explore and select from a library of music styles and instruments, then 'mix' these as a track to be put on to the class CD. Arts: Music |
Sound story creatorYears 8-10 (Two hours) Students write and record a short story to computer. Using GarageBand, Audacity, or Sony Acid Music Studio, sound effects are added to the recorded narration, making the story come to life. This project promotes language and literacy. Media Arts, English |
Animation factoryYears 8-10 (Four hours) Using imagination, computers, web cameras, various toys and SAM Animation or Stop Motion Pro software, students are engaged in a fun and challenging way. During the day, participants learn how to use the software and 'animate' objects to make a short movie. Post-production editing is done in iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. Media Arts |
Film soundtrack creatorYears 8-12 (Two or four hours) Using GarageBand, iMovie, Sony Vegas or Acid Music Studio, students synchronise sound effects and add music to a short film. Media Arts |
Music and video clip producerYears 8-12 (Two or four hours) Combining audio, video and still images, students produce a music video clip complete with soundtrack, visual effects, titles and credits. Students use GarageBand, Sony Acid Music Studio and iMovie or Sony Vegas Movie Studio software. Media Arts |

The Digital Studio delivers workshops to secondary, support and extension groups. Complexity of content and dialogue is varied according to the students. Programs are delivered on both Windows and Mac (OS X) platforms. Programs include links to Arts and English areas of the AustralianCurriculum in addition to Science and Technology. |
