Kinetic Contraption is the world's largest interactive ball race and the brainchild of Scitech’s creative team who design and build science exhibitions that travel the world.
Executive Projects Manager Sarah Bugg says, “We wanted to create an exhibit that explains some of the more complex areas of physics. We also wanted something interactive that could accommodate groups of people wanting to use it together.”
Kinetic Contraption achieves this, by having several stations at which users can stop, slow or speed up the balls as the travel around more than 100 meters of stainless steel tracks. It extends to a height of 7 meters, encasing 2 bowling balls and 27 croquet balls.
Using the impact of gravity, levers, pulleys and wheels; and potential and kinetic energy, Kinetic Contraption is sure to become an iconic exhibit at Scitech!
Scitech’s mission is to increase interest and participation by Western Australians in science and technology
