Students are guided through a world of technology which includes using a computer to create, compose and arouse interest in the fields of music, multimedia and animation.

Sounds and pictures

Years PP-2 (60 minutes)

Students use a MI DI keyboard, a microphone and a computer program to explore a range of music and sound effects. They create a funky piece of music using Groovy Music while expanding fundamental computer skills.

Music mix

Years 2-7 (90 minutes or two hours)

Using GarageBand, Sony Acid Music Studio, or Groovy Music, students explore and select from a library of music styles and instruments, then 'mix' these as a track to be put on to the class CD.

Game-making

Years 5-7 (Two hours)

Using Game Maker software, students learn how to design and make their own computer game – in the style of Tetris, Pacman and other simple platform, puzzle or target games.

Animation factory

Years 5-7 (Four hours)

Using imagination, computers, web cameras, various toys and SAM Animation or Stop Motion Pro software, students are engaged in a fun and challenging way. During the day, participants learn how to use the software and ‘animate’ objects to make a short movie. Post-production editing is done in iMovie or Windows Movie Maker.

Sound story creator

Years 2-7 (Two hours)

Students write and record a short story to computer. Using GarageBand, Audacity, or Sony Acid Music Studio, sound effects and music are added to the recorded narration, making the story come to life. This project promotes language and literacy.

Music and video clip producer

Years 6-7 (Two or four hours)

Combining audio, video and still images, students produce a music video clip complete with soundtrack, visual effects, titles and credits. Students use GarageBand, Sony Acid Music Studio and iMovie or Sony Vegas Movie Studio software.

Film soundtrack creator

Years 5-7 (Two or four hours)

Using GarageBand, iMovie, Sony Vegas or Acid Music Studio, students synchronise sound effects and add music to a short film.

3D Storytelling

Years 4-7 (Two or four hours)

Using Kahootz 3D software, students create stories and games using 3D objects and worlds.

We can build programs over a series of weeks to suit your individual requirements.

The Digital Studio delivers programs on both Windows and Mac (OS X) platforms.

The Digital Studio delivers workshops to primary, support and extension groups. Complexity of content and dialogue is varied according to the students.

Programs include links to Arts and English areas of the Australian Curriculum in addition to Science and Technology.
