Science Awareness Festival

Thurs 19 - Sat 21 September, 2013
Venue TBA, KARRATHA

Students and teachers in the Pilbara region will gain a first-hand insight into the real-life relevance of science when the 14th annual three day Scitech Science Awareness Festival visits Karratha.

Organised through Scitech's partnership with Rio Tinto, a two-day science showcase will feature interactive displays, hands-on exhibits and short talks to raise awareness about science and technology careers in the region.

Thousands of students from local schools will be given the rare opportunity to meet people working in science-based industries and experience their related skills first-hand. This is followed by a FREE professional learning day for teachers, which is a wonderful opportunity for teachers to access professional learning usually only available to metropolitan teachers.

Scitech's Science Awareness Festivals aim to generate interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers amongst young people in regional areas. Each festival includes a careers expo, a free general public event and a professional learning day for teachers.
