All gallery programs consist of a 60-minute structured program in one of our exhibition galleries plus additional components you can individually select.

Experienced Science Squad staff work with you during your visit to engage and focus the students while they explore science concepts through interactive exhibits.

Gallery visits can include: a 30-minute theatre show and/or 30 minutes free exploration. You can also combine your gallery program with a Horizon – the Planetarium show, CSIRO Lab or Digital Studio program.

Use the force

Years 8-12

Investigate the concepts of forces, motion and energy and be inspired by the world of physics in the 'Up, Down and Around' gallery. Students explore, experiment and explain a variety of exhibits covering concepts of energy and forces. Answers to the student question sheet are provided for the teacher.

Science Fiction/Science Future

Years 8-12, Term 4

This feature exhibition focuses on current and future science, reflecting on how these may have been influenced by or are used in science fiction. Students investigate the science behind science fiction such as if it’s possible to make an invisibility cloak and develop the technology to travel back through time.

Science as a Human Endeavour

Years 9-12, early Term 2 or early Term 4

Scitech is renowned for producing world-class Science and Technology exhibits. Students can experience our exhibit design process from concept to construction. The one-hour structured program consists of a 30-minute presentation on exhibit production (concept development, selection criteria, key messages, research and development through to construction and communication), plus a 30-minute guided tour around the Scitech workshop and feature exhibition in development.

  • There is free parking at City West for Scitech visitors coming by car, but you must display the dated parking permit issued at our admissions desk if you plan to stay longer than two hours.
