National Science Week:
Primary Science Program

Get your students involved in National Science Week 2021 — in your own classroom!

You have reached the main content region of the page.

Celebrate National Science Week and spark curiosity in your students throughout August with our range of interactive shows and workshops in the classroom.

From chemistry and biology to physics and earth & space, our Primary Science incursions are all linked to the WA curriculum, and support lesson planning by engaging students in real-world science, technology, engineering and maths concepts.

Our enthusiastic Science Presenters make STEM learning easy with exciting demonstrations and hands-on activities that can be tailored to suit a variety of student abilities.

Supported by Rio Tinto, this program travels to the far corners of WA, visiting schools in regional and remote communities as well as Perth. Explore our incursion offerings below and get in touch to organise a special Scitech experience at your school.

Primary Science Incursions

Physical Sciences Show & Workshop (K to 3)

Playing with toys leads to all sorts of amazing science experiments. Question, predict and test as we learn about motion using the best scientific equipment of all: from the toy box!

Move it
Two young boys racing toy cars down a ramp.

Physical Sciences Show and Workshop (4 to 6)

Physics explains what’s happening around us. But should we just believe everything we read? Together, we test and experiment with some of these rules and find out that there is often more to consider than what we first thought.

Chemical Sciences Show and Workshop (K to 3)

Science can happen in all sorts of places. From the kitchen to the bathroom, students explore what happens when we combine different things – both following a recipe and making up some of their own.

Mix and make
Two young children combine materials in a bowl.

Chemical Sciences Show and Workshop (4 to 6)

We love learning so much we’ve built tools that allow us to extend our senses and discover even more. See the world around you in a whole new light! Together, we’ll use our tools to explore chemistry and reveal unseen properties.

Element of surprise
Young scientists looking excitedly at balloons.

Biological Sciences Show and Workshop (K to 3)

A group of animals threw a party at your school last night! Can we figure out who was there by looking at the clues they left behind? Put on your detective hats and solve the mystery through science.

Party animals
An aerial shot of three young students playing with toy animals and an iPad.

Biological Sciences Show and Workshop (4 to 6)

Ninjas need to have excellent hunting and hiding skills. Together, we’ll observe, try out and learn from a variety of amazing living things which use these skills to survive in their environment – just like ninjas!

Nature's ninjas
A group of students sitting outside and testing sand.

Want to get your students out of the classroom this National Science Week? Book a Scitech excursion!

Science excursions at Scitech are a great way for students to get out of the classroom and discover a new perspective on the world around them. We offer school excursions in Perth for students from K – 12.
