The Future Health Professionals program (formerly known as Future Doctors), presented by Scitech and the Department of Postgraduate Medical Education in collaboration with the Centre for Nursing Education at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, provides students the exclusive opportunity to get hands-on experience in the medical field, with a five-day intensive series of talks and workshops.
Thirty hand-selected students are accepted into the annual program, to network with and learn from a variety of medical experts, explore a wide range of medical career options and pathways, gain in-hospital experience in one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals, and to participate in simulated medical procedures.
Sessions include but are not limited to:
• Surgical techniques such as scrubbing and suturing
• Clinical skills such as IV insertion and plastering
• Nursing and Midwifery
• Emergency and Paramedicine
• Medical imaging
• Sleep science
• Facility tours
• Career pathways and networking
Cost: $750 - includes all sessions, all program materials, scrubs and morning tea and lunch each day. Tuition to be paid upon acceptance to the program.
There is one $750 scholarship opportunity available for a regionally or remotely schooled/ homeschooled student.

• Students must be residing in Western Australia
• Students must be entering Year 11 or Year 12 in 2019
• Students must be able to provide their own accommodation and travel to and from the program
