Playing with Light

Our enlightening feature exhibition in the BHP Exhibition Gallery offers amazing and stimulating light and visualisation experiences for the whole family to enjoy. Paint with infrared, freeze and interact with your shadow, make light bounce down a stream of water and challenge your friends in our maze of lasers!

The Scitech Planetarium will have a new show, Passport to the Universe, which takes an unforgettable journey through the observable Universe to explore our “cosmic address”.

Kaartadjin Koorliny

Be immersed in Scitech’s newest gallery, Kaartadjin Koorliny supported by Woodside, which combines STEM with DIY culture, gaming circuitry, data visualisation and sensory elements. Send scarves up our soaring shoots, draw on the illuminated sand table, create your own stop-motion animation, or meld colours and patterns with our Halo exhibit.

Science Theatre

Explore the explosive and enchanting world of glowing thingsin this brilliant show. From explosive fire-balls to surprising chemical reactions, through to the wonders of UV and laser light, the Things That Glow show explores the dazzling and breathtaking world of light and how we use it.

Puppet Theatre

For the youngest curious minds, the Puppet Theatre will be showing Bursting with Energy, where Balga the Grass Tree and his animal friends explore where they get their energy from.

Rio Tinto Tinkering Space

Scitech’s ‘Tinkering Space’ is an innovative space for visitors to Think, Make, Try and Refine their ideas.

During the school holidays, bring the science of shadows to life by adding to a giant shadow sculpture.

Use your pattern-matching skills to find out what elements make up the stars in our Spectroscopy activity.
