Explore the strange, wonderful and dark corners of science at Scitech’s adults-only After Dark event on 22 June.
Delve into the boundary-pushing aspects of science with us in an evening of self-sufficient robots, black holes and time travel, taxidermy and more. Plus, revisit your childhood by exploring some of our timeless exhibits as you immerse yourself in parts of Scitech you may have never experienced.
Is time travel possible? Are worm holes real? And what do black holes have to do with it? Join us in the Scitech Planetarium for ‘A Stubbornly Persistent Illusion’ and explore the science of what is, and is not, possible in time travel.
Then join Nathan John Thompson as he gives you a glimpse of a world where robots don't need digital computers or microcontrollers to function. Listen as he explains his findings from his research into building these BioRobots and get up close with self-assembling autonomous entities made of printed silk infused with human iP Stem Cells.
What if we told you death itself can be delicate and beautiful? Join Hayley Walker for a celebration of life, stories and nature in death as she performs the art of taxidermy on a rat. View a collection of taxidermy creatures in Hayley’s creative art display.
Test the limits of your mind with our strange and wonderful science busks. Use electrical impulses to control someone’s body and learn the science and technology behind quantum levitation.
There will be activities of strange proportions, roving entertainment, a silent disco and much more! So free your mind, grab a drink from the bar in City Views, and settle in for a night exploring the peculiar corners of science.
