The regional tour will visit 13 schools in Port Hedland, Newman, Tom Price and Karratha, alongside three WA Day Festivals in Newman on Sunday 7 June, Port Hedland on Sunday 14 June, and Karratha on Saturday 27 June.
At each WA Day Festival, Scitech will bring a selection of hands-on exhibits and interactive activities designed to make science fun and accessible for all ages.
Scitech Manager of Learning Futures Inette Henn said regional tours were an important part of Scitech’s commitment to ensuring every Western Australian had opportunities to engage with science.
“Events like the WA Day Festival are important opportunities to make science fun, engaging and easily accessible for everyone in the WA community,” Ms Henn said.
“Our school incursions encourage curiosity and discovery, helping students connect science with their everyday life in a fun and supportive environment.”
“Early positive engagement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is so important in encouraging young people to continue developing these skills during their time at school, throughout their lives, and into their career choices.”
“Our aim is to be the spark that ignites curiosity and encourages people of all ages to continue their science journeys.”
Scitech visits every regional and remote school in Western Australia every three years as part of its ongoing commitment to science engagement across the state.
In the 2024–25 financial year, Scitech delivered 15 regional tours, travelling more than 36,000 kilometres across Western Australia to connect communities with science experiences.
