All Scitech staff that work directly with children have a current ‘Working with Children’ check as a condition of employment.
During the school holidays, pre-booked groups cannot eat lunch in the Science Centre due to space restrictions. We suggest groups take advantage of nearby parks (eg Harold Boas Gardens or Kings Park).
At other times, it may be possible for your pre-booked group to eat lunch. Please check availability at the time of booking.
Yes! If you are organising for 20 or more paying people to visit the Science Centre you can pre-book as a group and receive a discounted admission price.
There is extremely limited storage space for bags so please carry as little as possible. Belongings are not supervised and valuables should be kept on your person. See also Visitor FAQs.
Scitech Emergency Response Planning for schools involves:
An emergency evacuation signal linked directly to the Fire Department
Trained wardens responsible for clearing all public zones
Evacuation routes which lead to a safe assembly area (our staff will lead you there)
Clearly marked exits and fire hydrant locations
Regular evacuation drills.
Some morning bookings can include a Planetarium or Science Theatre show. Please check availability at the time of booking.
We recommend splitting your group up into small groups to make the most of your visit. As your visit is self-paced, smaller groups encourage discussion and interest led exploration of exhibits and galleries.
Groups should be dropped off at the set-down area near the roundabout.
City of Perth Street parking is available on Sutherland Street. A ticket will need to be purchased from the City of Perth ticket machines and displayed on the bus dashboard.
Parking at the City West Centre is managed by Secure Parking. There is limited free parking, available for up to two hours. To receive your free parking please use the ticket machines located within the City West carpark before entering.
For your convenience, there is a water fountain in the City Views eating area – please bring your drink bottles to fill up. And there are coin-operated vending machines with snack food.
Groups receive a discount off the standard ticketed price and pay child $11, youth $11, adult $18 and adult concession $15.
Pre-booked groups are also entitled to 1 complimentary Adult ticket for every 8 purchased tickets. This aligns with a 1 adult : 8 children supervision ratio.
Pre-booked groups will have 2-hour access to the Science Centre during opening times, including weekends.
Please note that we are not able to accept group bookings during the July School holiday period.
Please assemble your group inside City West Centre at the base of the stairs to the Science Centre and send one member of staff to the Admissions desk to let a Scitech staff member know of your arrival. Your group will then be directed to a designated area where you will be welcomed.
