Excursions
A school visit to Scitech's exhibition areas often involves a structured exploration by a Scitech presenter. Programs run in exhibition areas are also shared with general public families so please be considerate to all Scitech visitors.
Morning tea or lunch breaks must be arranged prior to your visit with the bookings staff and allocated as the word ‘break’ on your confirmation letter. Where possible please allow only one break per day at Scitech as areas are strictly limited and a shared resource for all schools visiting. We will store your lunch tubs for you until your allocated break time.
Scitech has a first aid room, toilet facilities including accessible toilet, lift from the undercover car park and all areas of Scitech are wheelchair accessible.
Please leave your students at the base of the stairs to Scitech and advise our staff of your arrival. A Scitech staff member will be assigned to greet your group, go over your schedule for the day and sort out payment and final numbers.
There can be several different schools participating in an excursion at Scitech on the same day. It is the schools’ responsibility to select a suitable method for identifying their students. Wearing school uniforms, name tags, wrist bands or lanyards helps supervising parents and Scitech staff to identify excursion participants.

1:4 - Year 1 to 4
1:6 – Year 3-4
1:8 – Year 5-6
1:10 – Year 7
1:15 - High School
All bookings require a minimum of two (2) supervising adults.
There are vending machines for snacks and drinks in the ‘City Views’ area of Scitech. If you wish to have recess or lunch off-site, Harold Boas Gardens is a 2-minute walk away across the railway line on Wellington Street.
The CSIRO Lab is accessible via the ground floor lift located opposite the ticketing office. Scitech has a first aid room, toilet facilities including accessible toilet, lift from the undercover car park and all areas of Scitech are wheelchair accessible.
If your school has been delayed and will arrive late please contact Scitech on 9215 0740. The Scitech Duty Manager will do their best to reschedule your programs but due to other groups this may not always be possible.
Bus parking is available on the Sutherland Street side of the City West complex. Students should be dropped off at the roundabout at the front of Scitech, so that students can safely disembark before entering Scitech. A ticket will need to be purchased from the City of Perth ticket machines and displayed on the bus’s dashboard.
