As an educator, you hold the key to brighter STEM-enabled futures for Western Australians. Your team has been innovative and hardworking in inspiring students in STEM fields, and you have supported them.
We’re giving a round of applause to schools who are preparing students for future workplaces with the skillsets and mindsets to thrive.
The Governor’s School STEM Awards were established to recognise the support and commitment of school principals and leadership teams in developing their schools’ science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs. The Awards identify high quality outcomes and approaches in STEM subjects as well as in the way STEM teaching is integrated across learning areas.
The Awards aim to raise awareness of the importance of STEM education and incentivise school leadership to support their teachers in undertaking STEM initiatives.
Schools selected as finalists are celebrated at a presentation ceremony in November. Prizes include $2000 for the ‘Leadership Excellence Award’ and $1000 for the ‘Meritorious Leadership Award’ for each of the primary and secondary school categories. Winning schools also receive an invitation to visit Government House, and all finalist schools receive a visit to Scitech for up to 60 students or a selection of Scitech DIY Science Kits.
