‘World Bee Day’ celebrates our hard-working little pollinators on 20 May. At Scitech, we’ll be celebrating on 23 and 24 May, exploring why bees are so important to the planet, and how they help keep ecosystems thriving.
Meet The Beekeeper
23 May at 11:00am and 01:00pm
Join Beekeepers, Wendy and Helen for a fun, interactive and sweet-smelling presentation entitled ‘What do Bees do in the hive?’ learn all about locating pollen, nectar-rich flowers, and there will also be honey tasting at the end.
24 May at 12:30pm
Join Damian Green, founder of Bee Central WA, for a buzzing presentation at the Discovery Centre. Discover the fascinating world of bees, from pollen and nectar to honey tasting.
Honey-Flavoured Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream
Because everything is better with ice cream. Stick around! After each beekeeper presentation session, we will be sampling some delicious honey flavoured ice cream with a scientific twist. Don’t miss out!

Buzz on over to see the Scitech Bees! Their custom-designed hive features a special internal box for their home, a waste disposal area, and even heating to keep things at a bee-utiful 35 degrees Celsius, just the way they like it. See if you can find the queen bee and try out your best bee waggle dance!
