Slime is a quick and fun substance to make at home, plus it involves some really cool science! In this video, Adam demonstrates how to make one of our favourite slime recipes. Not only is it only a simple 2-ingredient recipe, but there are no messy powders involved.

Now it’s your turn to experiment!

Try changing the variables of the recipe. What happens when you add more or less water? Why don’t you try adding food colouring or glitter? We want to see what exciting creations you can come up with!

What you’ll need:

  • Bowl (microwave save)
  • Tap water
  • Microwave
  • Tablespoon
  • Psyllium husk

Warning

Although this recipe contains food-safe ingredients, we don’t recommend eating it (a little taste is ok!) Please ensure slime is completely cooled before handling.

Do you have a safe workstation and workwear? Check out our Safety with Scitech video series before experimenting!

Instructions

  1. Put 3 tablespoons of psyllium husk into a microwaveable bowl.
  2. Add 400ml water.
  3. Stir all your ingredients together.
  4. Microwave up to 5 minutes (keep checking after each minute to stir, once the slime is a consistency you would like you can take it out).
  5. Slime will be hot once taken out of the microwave so leave to cool for 1 hour.
  6. If you do not have a way to heat up your slime, you can use warm water and continually stir instead.
