A school fundraiser that gave something back, too

When Amber and the Maylands Peninsula Primary School’s P&C started looking for fundraising ideas, making money wasn’t their only goal. 

They wanted to give families a fun night out together, without creating another huge job for the P&C. 

Enter: a Scitech School Fundraiser. 

The school community enjoyed an exclusive night at Scitech, while the P&C raised funds through ticket sales. And when it came to actually organising the event? 

It was surprisingly easy. 

“You book, sell the tickets, and that’s it. You rock up on the night and enjoy yourselves.”

Less for the P&C to organise. 

With Scitech taking care of the venue, entertainment and support on the night, there was a whole lot the P&C didn’t have to worry about. No security to organise. No complicated event logistics. No army of parent helpers or volunteers needed to run the night. 

And that meant the P&C could actually enjoy it too. 

Kids got to explore Scitech after hours with their school friends, while parents had the chance to catch up and enjoy themselves. 

“The kids have their own mates, and they all know each other. It’s massively social for the adults, too. Kids love coming at night, it’s totally different.” 

Want to raise a little more? 

Sell your tickets, and you’re good to go. 

Or, if your P&C wants to do a little more, you can add things like pizza for dinner, drinks or face painting to create extra fundraising opportunities. 

The point is, you choose how much you take on. 

“It can be as little or as much effort as you want.” 

For Maylands Peninsula Primary School, it meant a fun night for families, an opportunity to raise funds for the school and, importantly, a fundraiser the P&C could actually enjoy too.
