Embark on an unforgettable journey beneath the waves with Scitech’s new exhibition, exploring some of the most captivating marine environments on Earth.

You have reached the main content region of the page.

Launching in November 2026, Oceans: The World Beneath the Waves invites your students to climb aboard a research vessel and journey from the coastline to the deepest seas, discovering the science, technology and innovation helping us understand and protect our oceans.

Across six immersive exhibition zones, students will explore the Coast, Coral Reef, Kelp Forest, Deep Ocean and Polar Oceans, with hands-on experiences that bring the science of our marine environments to life.

Students can investigate how scientists use environmental DNA to monitor marine species, learn about the technologies used to map and understand the ocean, find out how coral reefs respond to changing conditions, experience the recovery of a giant kelp forest and descend into the deep ocean to uncover some of its remarkable inhabitants. Along the way, they’ll delve into how human activity affects our oceans and encounter some of the innovative solutions helping to protect them for the future.

Oceans: The World Beneath the Waves will be available for students to experience as part of a Scitech excursion from November, 2026. A facilitated Oceans excursion program will be available from early 2027.

Years: 1-6
Location: Feature exhibition gallery
Available: From November 2026
Facilitated Excursion: Available from early 2027
