Game Over Take Over will turn the Discovery Centre into an adults-only playground of old-school favourites, newly developed games and lots of competition.
Revisit the games you grew up with as Nostalgia Box brings retro video game consoles into the centre. Jump forward a few decades and get hands-on with Beta testing and new games from WA developers, meet the minds behind them and discover what they’re working on right here in WA.
There’ll be Scitech exhibits to explore, a bar to keep players refreshed, and plenty of opportunities to prove once and for all who really is the best gamer in your group.

Extra Lives: Interactive Video Game Concert
Meet the upgrade that feels more like the main attraction of the evening.
Extra Lives is the world’s first Audience RPG: a full narrated choose-your-own-adventure game where you are the main character!
A live interactive concert in the Science Theatre where the audience must vote on how game characters will proceed, leading to special story branches and over 60 different ending variations depending on the audience’s in-game choices. You play the games, they play the songs.

The Nostalgia Box: Games and Consoles
Our friends across the road, Nostalgia Box, are Australia’s ONLY retro video game console museum. When you visit, not only do you get to learn the history of video games with over 100 consoles in their museum, but you also get to play that history on the original hardware and TVs. During this event, we’ll be partnering up with Nostalgia Box to bring some childhood favourites into Scitech so you can experience it all under the one roof!
WA Game Developers
We will be hosting several Western Australian game developers who will be showcasing, talking about and teaching people how to play their newly developed games. From 3D animated games to old RPG mysterious worlds, there is something for everyone!
Ask questions, challenge the creators and learn what games are currently being developed right here in WA!
