About RoboCup Junior WA
Every year, primary and secondary students from across WA design, build and code their own robots. Then they put them to the test by competing in an incredible robotic challenges.
It’s as wonderful as it sounds and, as one of the state’s longest running, annual robotics competition, it shouldn’t be missed.
Workshops and competitions take place across Perth and regional WA throughout the year, culminating in the epic RoboCup Junior WA state event at Curtin Stadium in July. It’s here you’ll see robots give on-stage performances, play soccer and conduct mini search and rescue operations. For real.
Throughout the year, the RoboCup Junior WA committee provide a series of workshops and competitions across Perth and regional WA. These events culminate in the epic RoboCup Junior WA state event hosted by Scitech, with support from state event partners Rio Tinto.
With 200 teams, encompassing around 600 students from 50 metro and regional schools each year, it’s mechanical mayhem. So, what are you waiting for? Sign up and get ready to exterminate (or be exterminated).
When you see the absolute joy on a child’s face when the robot they and their team have created and programmed successfully follows a line for the first time, you know that you have them “hooked”.
Having students work respectfully with an adult as a peer, see a challenge and use their minds to work out possible solutions, then test their ideas to find the best answer, and know that I helped guide them and get them started is what keeps me coming back.
