The exciting possibilities of a career in STEM will be on display when the Future Makers STEM Festival comes to Bunbury.
The exciting possibilities of a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) will be on display when the Future Makers STEM Festival comes to Bunbury on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 September 2025.
Hundreds of local students, teachers and community members are expected to attend the two-day festival at the Mantra Bunbury Lighthouse, which will feature an interactive careers expo, inspiring guest speakers, and hands-on workshops.
Scitech Secondary STEM Coordinator Joshua Guy encouraged the Bunbury community to join in the excitement at the community session on Thursday 11 September from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
“Whether you’re interested in discovering different STEM career opportunities, want to explore the latest in submarines and defence industry technology, or simply have fun in a high-energy workshop, there’s something for everyone,” Mr Guy said.
“We are excited to be bringing leading STEM professionals and experts to Bunbury to showcase the amazing array of careers available in Western Australia.
“This festival provides a valuable opportunity for students and the community to hear first-hand from industry about how STEM pathways can shape their futures.”
The Western Australian Department of Education reports that 75 per cent of jobs in the fastest growing industries require STEM skills, and demand will continue to increase in the future.
With funding from the Schools Pathways Program, Scitech’s Future Makers program is inspiring the next generation of innovators to consider a STEM career, highlighting how STEM knowledge and skills are transforming defence industries.
