Scitech gets Ah! Rated for Fringe
Scitech is returning to FRINGE WORLD Perth with a strictly 18+ show.
We want everyone to have opportunities to connect with science! So, we brought our Dino-Science workshop to Ronald McDonald House for a roar-some afternoon.
Scitech brought hands-on discovery to Ronald McDonald House, delivering a Dino-Science workshop to children and families spending time away from home due to illness or injury.
For an afternoon, young participants stepped into the worlds of palaeontology and chemistry – excavating fossils, experimenting with scientific reactions, and creating classic bi-carb and vinegar volcanoes.
Ronald McDonald House WA Program Manager Julie Field said the experience played an important role in supporting children’s wellbeing during difficult periods.
“When families are navigating hospital stays and medical appointments, hands-on science experiences offer more than learning – they provide joy, curiosity, confidence and a chance for children to simply be kids,” said Ms Field.
“Exploring, experimenting and asking ‘why?’ helps build resilience, sparks imagination and gives families something to share, laugh about and remember together.
“Learning doesn’t stop during tough times and fun, connection and discovery are just as important as rest and care.”
Scitech Chief Executive Officer John Chappell said it reflected Scitech’s commitment to making science accessible for everyone, everywhere.
“Science isn’t just something that happens in labs and classrooms – it’s how we understand the world around us,” said Dr Chappell.
“That’s why Scitech brings our interactive science workshops and shows to community spaces across WA.
“We first worked with Ronald McDonald House Charities in 2018, and it has been a privilege to provide opportunities for ill or injured children and their families to play, learn and explore their curiosity.”
