The Chair of the Scitech Board, Mr Tony Joyner, today announced that Ms Deborah Hancock has been appointed as the new CEO of Scitech.
For the past five years, Ms Hancock has been the CEO of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce. Under her successful leadership, the Cairns Chamber became one of the largest Chambers of Commerce in regional Australia.
‘Deb is an experienced, energetic and passionate CEO, who brings a wealth of leadership and executive management experience from both the private and public sectors. She is also a clear thinker and a straight shooter.’
Mr Joyner said Ms Hancock has a strong track record of engaging with government, business, and the community to grow businesses and make a difference.
‘The next few years will be an exciting time for Scitech: building on the great work of the team led by the highly regarded outgoing CEO, Mr Alan Brien, we are looking to do more, and to build on our great brand. And of course we have to move to a new home sometime in the medium term. Ms Hancock’s experience and qualities are perfectly suited to meet these challenges’.
‘On behalf of the Board members and staff of Scitech, we welcome Ms Hancock as the new CEO,’ said Mr Joyner.
There will be a transition period with Mr Brien, with Ms Hancock taking on the CEO role officially from Monday the 18th of September.
