Alcoa Maths Enrichment Program
Scitech has been working in partnership with Alcoa to support primary school teachers to improve their confidence and ability to facilitate deeper learning of mathematical concepts through the Alcoa Maths Enrichment Program, which has directly impacted more than 10,000 teachers, students and parents across the Kwinana, Peel and Upper South-West regions since its inception in 2012.
The program has had impressive results over the decade, with marked improvements in teacher competencies and confidence, parental support, and student outcomes. It has also laid the foundations for a strong sustainable community of practice, that will continue to create further opportunities for both teachers and students in the future.
Scitech and Alcoa are continuing to support maths teaching through the Powerful Problem-Solving Master Series in 2022, and have formed a new, three-year partnership in response to a perceived need for support in teaching digital technologies.
