This National Science Week, your classroom can enjoy free virtual excursions from Scitech and the Australian Space Agency!
Year 3 – 6 students can become Space Explorers from their classroom with a series of four 45-minute live digital sessions all around this year’s National Science Week theme of Decoding the Universe.
Monday, 11 August 2025: Mission: Space – Enigmatic Earth and Space
Tuesday, 12 August 2025: Mission: Space – Cryptic Chemistry
Wednesday, 13 August 2025: Mission: Space – Puzzling Physics
Thursday, 14 August 2025: Mission: Space – Baffling Biology
Each session explores how mathematics, technology, and engineering are growing Australia’s space industry. With insights from real-world industry professionals, Scitech will highlight the real-world (and outer world) impacts of STEM with your students.
These sessions will start live each day at the following times:
- 09:00am Australian Western Standard Time (WA)
- 10:30am Australian Central Standard Time (NT, SA)
- 11:00am Australian Eastern Standard Time (ACT, NSW, QLD, TAS, VIC)
Registered teachers will also be provided free extension resources, and digital copies of the virtual excursions, to keep and use in their classrooms, extending their students’ space mission beyond National Science Week.
The Mission: Space virtual excursions are designed to be accessible to regional and remote schools.
Please register your interest below, noting the number of students you’ll be inviting to the virtual excursion. You are welcome to attend as many of the virtual excursions as you like, with as many students as you like.

Yes, we are recording all four virtual excursions. Access to the recording files will be emailed to registered teachers following each event. We still recommend joining our live sessions (if possible) for added interaction, and to allow us to record student estimates.
To participate in the Virtual Excursion, you will need:
- A device that has access to the internet,
- A screen on which the live stream can be projected from your device, for your students to watch.
Other than that, just bring yourselves and get ready to have some fun!
As many as you like! The Virtual Excursions are designed to be live-streamed into your classroom on a projector screen, to be viewed by everyone in the room at the same time. That might be just your class, a whole year group or even your whole school!
As the date of the event approaches, you will receive a link and instructions on how to access the live stream.
Registered teachers will also be provided with free extension resources and digital copies of the virtual excursions to keep and use in their classrooms. These resources are designed to extend students’ space missions beyond National Science Week!
