Celebrate World Oceans Day: Explore, Learn, and Take Action
Join us at 12:30pm on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June for two special Meet the Scientist events that dive into the science, sustainability, and action needed to protect our marine environments.
Saturday, 7 June at 12:30pm
We’re excited to welcome Dr. Katrina Doughty, Associate Lecturer at the UWA Oceans Institute, for a fun and insightful session: Dr. Doughty’s Fishy Friends.
Are you team hamburger or team fish and chips? Come and find out how our food choices impact the ocean and what we can do to help. From sustainability to seafood, Dr. Doughty will explore how what we eat connects to the health of our oceans — and how we can all play a part in protecting them.
Sunday, 8 June at 12:30pm
We’re thrilled to welcome back Sina Pinter, PhD candidate at UWA’s Ocean Institute, for an all-ages exploration: Operation Ocean: Explore, Discover, and Protect!
You’ll learn how ocean currents shape our planet, how whales and coral reefs sound underwater, how pollution affects marine animals, and what you can do to make a difference.
Don’t miss your chance to learn from local experts and join the conversation on how we can preserve our oceans for generations to come!
