To help keep everyone warm during winter Scitech has a packed July School Holiday program for everyone. We are also opening earlier at 9am for the early birds who want to avoid the rush. We also recommend purchasing your ticket online during holidays to make an easier transition into our centre.
Here’s what’s on offer during the July School Holidays:
SOS! Do you have what it takes to be a hero?
Every day search and rescue operations take place around the world. Scitech’s returning exhibition, Rescue, allows visitors to experience and react to high-pressure, rescue-based scenarios in the air, sea, and on land.
Step into the shoes of a helicopter rescue team as you climb aboard a life-sized helicopter to conduct a rescue using infrared cameras to look for heat signals. Drop low and feel your way through a replica burning building as you search for survivors. Navigate jet skis around obstacles to rescue a swimmer in three minutes.
Every decision you make counts. Choose wisely.
Meet the Heroes
During the school holidays we will have heroes at Scitech who put their lives on the line to help in dangerous situations. Learn about the various volunteers and organisations that come to our aid in rescue situations in the Tinkering Space.
Help Quizzy the Emu find out why he can’t fly in our popular 30-minute Puppet Theatre show, Why Can’t I Fly?
What makes Quizzy special and different from other birds?
Why Can’t I Fly? is showing every day at Scitech.
From explosive fire-balls to surprising chemical reactions, through to the wonders of UV and of laser light, the Things That Glow Show will shine a light on brilliant Western Australian science.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first moon landing Scitech will be screening Astronaut. The 45-minute film explores what it is like to be an astronaut. It covers the training involved, living in space, the dangers of space and the spirit of exploration that astronauts represent.
CSIRO Lab Workshops
The CSIRO Lab will be running inspiring workshops for ages 4 to 16, including making kinetic machines to becoming mini biologists. Click here to see all the workshops available (link to CSIRO workshops page).
During July the Discovery shop has some great specials so that you can continue your science journey at home.
