Science Behind Scitech: Visible Bee Hive

Scitech is still a hive of activity… for our bees!

Go behind the science of our Visible Hive with Michael as we do some autumn cleaning. Can spot the queen bee? 🐝

Our Visible Hive was developed more than 7 years ago in collaboration with The University of Western Australia. The first colony of bees was progressively trained to use a long entry/exit tube before they came to live at Scitech, but our latest colony learnt on the fly. And they’ve been buzzing strong for almost 2 years now!

This special episode of the ‘Science Behind Scitech’ shares the annual clean of our Visible Hive – a favourite exhibit for many of our visitors and staff.
