Scitech Challenge Days provide students with a cutting-edge opportunity to represent their school in a friendly competition with like-minded peers. Harnessing 21st century skills and their interest of science, technology, engineering, and maths, teams engage in a series of themed challenges throughout the Discovery Centre.
Expertly designed by Scitech’s very own team of STEM educators, Challenge Day expands on the students’ existing knowledge of the world around them. Working collaboratively in teams of four, students use design thinking to work through a series of challenges, fostering creativity and critical thinking, while developing students’ sense of character and communication skills. After teams conquer the final challenge of the day, they will present their designs to fellow participants and judges.

When: Week 2, Term 4 – 2026*
Years: 5–6
Duration: 5.5 hours (exact times to be confirmed closer to the date)
Student numbers: Two teams of four per school (maximum of eight students)
Cost: $35 per student for metropolitan schools, $30 per student for regional schools. Prices are GST free.
Catering: Morning tea and lunch is included for all students, teachers, and supervising adults. Vegetarian, vegan, and GF options are provided. Coffee and tea-making facilities are available for adults.
